The ancient sedimentary soils of the Yamhill-Carlton District produce Pinot Noir with black fruit flavors and rich textures. Lenné’s predominate soil type is peavine, a nutrient poor soil which produces small clusters and berries. The resulting wines have a concentrated mid palate and long finish, with black cherry and mineral components in the nose. Underlying all is the mocha character which is the aromatic signature of the terroir of Lenné.

The 2006 Lenné Estate Pinot Noir is a selection of the best barrels from each vintage. The backbone of the 2006 vintage came from the pommard clone planted in the upper block. This wine is a dark garnet with a
complex nose of black mixed berry fruit and nuances of chocolate and cola. The 2006 Lenné Estate has an rich mid palate and an even longer finish. The wine is powerful, yet reflective of the softness of the 2006 vintage.

The 2006 Lenné Estate Pinot Noir

After we selected the best barrels for the Lenné Estate, we separated two distinct barrels of the 115 clone and the pommard clone(coming in May) and offer these wines only at the tasting room and here, online.
The 2006 Jill’s 115 Pinot Noir, has black cherry, mocha and Asian spice in the nose. The wine sinks into the middle palate and hangs on before completing to a long finish. Absolutely delicious now, but should be stunning with some time in the bottle.

The 2006 LeNez Pinot Noir

The 2006 LeNez (le-nay) Pinot Noir is entirely 100% estate fruit, like our other wines. The wine also comes from the same yields, 1.3 tons per acre in 2006, or more precisely, not quite three quarters of a pound per plant in our densely planted vineyard. This Pinot Noir has aromas of black cherry and spice, similar to the Lenné Estate Pinot Noir. But, seeing slightly less new oak than the Lenné Estate, the terroir driven mocha aroma is more forward.

Some of the highest rated Oregon Pinot Noir

The 2006 Karen’s Pommard represents the two best barrels from our best block in the vineyard. This Pinot is opulent, with black cherry, cassis and mocha aromatics. The viscous entry is followed by rich, fine tannins and a long finish. The 2006 Karen’s Pommard Pinot Noir, has the richest mid palate of any Pinot Noir made by Lenné to date. A great candidate for the cellar.
