The Wines

The ancient sedimentary soils of the Yamhill-Carlton District produce Pinot Noir with black fruit flavors and rich textures. Lenné’s predominate soil type is peavine, a nutrient poor soil which produces small clusters and berries. The resulting wines have a concentrated mid palate and long finish, with black cherry and mineral components in the nose. Underlying all is the mocha character which is the aromatic signature of the terroir of Lenné.

Each year we select the best barrels from our estate vineyard on a steep, south facing slope near the town of Yamhill and label it under the Lenné Esate label. The 2007 vintage was a cool vintage with a number of challenges for growers in the Northern Willamette Valley. Warm, steep sites like Lenné, produced exceptional wines in this very cool year. The wines are more delicate than the 2006 vintage, more reminiscent of Burgundy than any year in the last decade. The 2007 Lenné Estate is no exception, producing aromatics closer to the red end of the fruit spectrum verses the black. Aromas of ripe red cherry and Asian spice give way to a full mid palate and persistent, long finish.

The 2007 Lenné Estate Pinot Noir

After we selected the best barrels for the Lenné Estate, we separated two distinct barrels of the 115 clone and offer these wines only at the tasting room and here, online. The 2007 Jill’s 115 Pinot Noir, has bing cherry, mocha and Asian spice in the nose. The wine has a silky mouth feel and finishes long with fine tannins. Opulent, without ever being heavy, the Jill’s 115 can be enjoyed now but also aged for 5-8 years.

The 2007 LeNez Pinot Noir

Each year we produce two Pinot Noirs which are entirely from out estate vineyard in the heart of Yamhill County. The LeNez Pinot Noir represents each of the five clones grown at Lenné. Low yields, sustainable farming and minimal winemaking are all represented in this wine. The 2007 vintage produced charming, lighter wines with moderate alcohol, yet full of flavor. The tell tale mocha aroma, a signature of Lenné’s terroir, is upfront, followed by bing cherry and spice. The wine has a soft entry and a lingering finish.

Some of the highest rated Oregon Pinot Noir

After we selected the best barrels for the Lenné Estate, we separated three distinct barrels of the the pommard clone and offer this wine only at the tasting room and here online. The 2007 Karen’s Pommard represents the three best barrels from our best block in the vineyard. This Pinot is more demure than the 06, with dark bing cherry, plum, and mocha aromatics. This Pinot Noir has rich, fine tannins and a long finish. The 2007 Karen’s Pommard Pinot Noir, is a great candidate for the cellar.
