A fruit-forward, juicy, sumptuous wine from a hot vintage. This wine is blended from all five clones on our estate vineyard; Dijon 114, 115, 667, and 777, as well as Pommard. The grapes were soured chiefly from the lower elevations, and it shows playfully fruity notes and a supple, soft mouthfeel.
Large format bottles are ideal for long term cellar aging. Their size and heft also makes them an impressive and dramatic gift. The 2023 vintage is the first time Lenné has produced large format bottles, and they were made in very limited quantities; just 30 bottles each of Kill Hill and South Slope.
The 2023 growing season was ideal. A mild Spring eased into a hot Summer with a large fruit set of very healthy grapes. The vines were thriving in our second year as a fully organic vineyard, and it was great to see them rebound with an abundance of latent energy after a small fruit set from the damp and difficult 2022 crop. We harvested over a week from September 18-24; which is right in our typical picking window.
Expect bold, fruit-forward wines with excellent balance of fruit, acidity, and tannins from this exceptional vintage.
