The Dijon 777 clone is one of the most popular in the Willamette Valley, and a mainstay in most pinot noir blends. This single clone bottling is dark and silky, with herbal notes and a hint of allspice on the nose, and mixture of red and black fruited flavors in the palate. The 777 clone is known for a silky smoothness, and this wine shows that with a powerful yet feminine mouth feel and finish.
Sad Jack is named after Sadie and Jackson, two dogs owned by our founders Steve and Karen Lutz. These two terriers enjoyed visiting the hillside vineyard and chasing after squirrels during the earliest days of our vineyard's planting.
The 2018 vintage was hot and sunny, and the resulting wines are fruit-forward and full-bodied. These wines were a bit heavy when newly-bottled, but after several years in the cellar they have matured beautifully, with a balanced acidity and herbal notes, along with the white pepper that often shows from hot vintages when we increase the percent of new oak to add body and depth..
