At once fruit-forward and delicate, the Eleanor's is one of our more complex wines. The aromatics show floral notes, with hints of dark chocolate, mocha, and shyly sweet black raspberry. The mouthfeel is lush and drenching, with semi-sweet red fruit, including raspberry, marionberry, and strawberry. The finish is silky and tangy, with a pleasant, lingering warmth.
The Dijon 114 clone is a common one in the Willamette Valley, but very few wineries produce it as a single clone. This clone adds sophisticated acidity and lighter notes of red fruit to most pinot noir blends. It has those characteristics from the Lenne vineyard as well, but our treacherous terroir gives such body, depth, and power to our wines that our 114 is bold enough to stand alone.
The 2021 vintage was long and hot, with a larger than average fruit set that paired beautifully with the lengthy ripening season. Our 2021 pinots are bold and fruit-forward, but even young, they show excellent balance with tannic structure and acidity on the finish courtesy of the longer than usual hang time. We recommend aging all Lenne pinots for at least a few years, with the ideal drinking window coming 4-12 years after bottling.
